Buying New Mini Motorcycles

Motorcycles used to be for adults who wanted to experience something new and exciting in their lives. It is a great way for them to ride out on the open road with the wind in their face and nothing holding them back. Now though mini motorcycles are available to younger kids and teenagers.

Though they do not have as much freedom on these bikes they do get to have fun driving in races, performing tricks, or simply riding around their neighborhood. Many parents will get a model for their children as a birthday or Christmas gift. The trick is to make sure that you get them a model that is both safe and won’t break down after a few uses.

Safety

Before you run out and buy one make sure that your kid isn’t too young. Contact your local DMV and ask them what the minimum age requirement is to drive this. Also learn what the laws are in your state and what safety gear they must wear when driving this (even in neighborhoods).

Why Buy It

Why are you buying one? Are you getting it so that your kid has something to do outside or are they planning on competing in races or performing tricks? Knowing what it will be used for will give you an idea of what features the bike should have and how fast or slow you want it to go.

Bike Models

There are several different types of models to choose from. The more basic models might only cost you around $200 brand new. These have the basic parts and can only reach a speed of about 30 mph. The more durable bikes will have better transmissions, brakes, and faster speeds. These can cost anywhere between $500 to $2,000.

Engine Size

Make sure you are getting the right engine. The standard mini motorcycle engine is between 37cc and 50cc. If you want something for racing you will want it to have a 109cc with top end power. Do your research and make sure the bike can handle whatever you want it to do.
